Willa came to our farm in the middle of a downpour and destined to be a market hog. But when we decided to barrel headlong into breeding pigs, buying a Red Wattle hog of our very own, we thought it best to have at least two sows for him to work with. So we took a look at the three market pigs and picked Willa as the best looking lady. She had superior hams and a nice deep belly.
She was dropped off by her breeders when I was home by myself and the rain was making everything a mess. Somehow we got the pigs out of the trailer and into a horse stall where at least it was dry. I can't recall who we bought them from, but I will update Willa's profile when I do.
She is predominantly Large Black, with a 25/25 split of Tamworth and Gloucestershire Old Spot.
