A second farrowing

Both of our sows, Gertrude and Willa gave birth to their second set of piglets.

Willa managed to farrow a mind-bending 16 piglets this time around, while Gertude managed a more pedestrian 10. Though here's the odd part: We never managed to successfully find Gertrude's afterbirth on the day of the farrowing (Saturday), and an eleventh piglet mysteriously turned up on Sunday, though it was, unfortunately, not alive.

So I'd say it was all a happy and healthy affair, and for Willa it has been, but Gertrude has been an unknown quantity. We're monitoring her every four or five hours and so far her health hasn't seemed to suffer. She's eating and drinking, and, though a bit lethargic, seems otherwise fine.

Also, Willa only has 14 teats, and so we fostered three of her piglets to Gertude, which seemed to have worked well.
